Clean and Sober Stoner has always been a Resistance blog against Trump and Trumpism. One of my earliest posts dealt with the first Trump Era after his election. I still stand behind Thoughts on Trump and what I wrote.
For years, I’ve felt it best to be part of a quiet Resistance against Trumpism, and I’ve tried to be low-key about it. But for the past week, the amount of emails I’ve had, DM’s, and late night conversations have convinced me that the quiet part needs to end.
I’m pissed that the people nearest and dearest to me have to endure more of the Trump Era. I’m outraged that that they need to experience fear and apprehension about what’s next. Christian Nationalists, Nazi’s and Trumpers are emboldened, and the gleeful gloating on social media ranges from the juvenile to the disturbed. This shit is real, man. Our whole household is directly affected by what’s happening, and what what happens next.
With the results of the election, it’s clear that Trumpism and it’s hateful, grievance-filled ideology is now mainstream. Which is fine, since all my life I’ve been bucking against mainstream bullshit. I survived Nixon, Reagan, and George W., and I’ll survive the Trump Era’s weak-ass bullshit as well.
Heavy metal has long attracted fans who reject the mainstream, with music that often speaks out against authority, conformity, and social injustice. For many metal fans who oppose Trump, this isn’t just a political stance—it’s a commitment to the core ethos. It’s why I love Stoner/Doom and Metal as a whole.
As a Never Trumper, being part of the metal community also means supporting bands that embody Resistance. Some musicians openly take a stance against Trump and what they view as divisive politics. Whether it’s through explicit lyrics, on-stage statements, or social media posts, these bands use their platform to voice opposition, advocating for unity and inclusivity. It’s invigorating to see artists actively challenging figures they believe misrepresent the values of freedom and individual rights—principles metal fans hold dear.
In that spirit, I’m going open up our site, YouTube Channel and playlists to the entire Heavy Metal Community. If you’re an independent artist or band who wants a platform to promote your Resistance to authoritarianism and division, Clean and Sober Stoner is open to you. Just email me at cleanandsoberstoner@gmail.com, and we’ll talk about adding you to our playlists.
I don’t intend to turn this site into a fanatical political platform. If bands and friends are ‘conservative’, they still have a place here. I’m not going to “cancel” any artists who have a sincere conservative point of view. If they’re comfortable being interviewed or reviewed by a devout Never Trumper, we’ll give it a shot.
If bands strongly disagree, I’ll remove their content without argument.
This will remain a music-first site. Explicitly political posts will be on the Clean and Sober Stoner Substack, where I’ll focus on the politics of drug use, addiction, and treatment along with Resistance writing. I’ll also have video content that is exclusive to Substack that won’t be on YouTube.
Clean and Sober Stoner is my Free Speech, especially in the Trump Era. I won’t be silent, I won’t look the other way. You can support us on Substack, or you can Buy Me a Cup of Coffee. Your support is greatly appreciated!

I love you man.
You’ve drank the koolaid but I still love you.
Love you too, dude. Please hang with me: kool-Aid, but you don't know what flavor or color of Kool-Aid it is, lol. I'll be publishing a video tomorrow that you might hate, but I have an extremely subtle shout out to you, specifically, in the video. Don't worry, I didn't use your name.
So the Kool-Aid drinkers, are calling out someone who didn't drink the Kool aid. I know what cooler could aid you drank, it's orange and full of piss.
Ahh, there you are. I thought I smelt sulphur!
Of course, it smells like sulfur it's full of the eggs and bacon I will be saving for when our man owns all you libs.
Relax dude. I won't be defending the neo-liberal crap from the last 30 years. But I've been waiting for someone to over react. I appreciate it. 🤘🏻
