What the Cuss is Fairy Doom, Faetooth?

What The Cuss Is Fairy Doom?

Just close your eyes, take a breath, and say that name, “Faetooth”. Linger for a bit. Allow your mind to walk the forest path as marked by mottled mushrooms and stems of foxglove.  Inhale the rich smell of the damp soil. Relax a little bit into the woods, into the quiet, into the dark.

You are in nature, and it is enveloping you. Feel the subtle growth of forces unseen that devoir and renew the forest floor. You are embraced by beauty. You are carried towards magic. You are not safe. Yet you are not afraid. Something is coming for you, but you will let it take you. This is the inevitable purpose of nature; to overrun everything and redirect the path.

Faetooth, a young three piece doom band from L.A. have defined a sound so fitting of their name that it has called forth the birth of a new genre: FAIRY-DOOM. They meld dark bass and guitar leads so that they dance back and forth in an ebb and flow as natural as the trickle of a stream and infuse that with sharp drum stabs and gorgeous vocals.

This creates a dream like feel that invites movement. Faetooth layers on the sludge and turns the landscape into a mud-soaked forest bed that entrances the listener, nudging them to step into that proverbial fairy ring. Once you are there, there is no escaping the toll as deep, guttural growls spew forth and remind you that you were right to fear. The doom is inescapable and infectious. That’s the magick of Fairy Doom.

Throbbing bass, wailing guitar, crackling drums, calling song, haunting gnarl. This is Faetooth.

Beauty, death, darkness. Light, decay, darkness. Life, rot, darkness. This is Fairy Doom.

Prepare to be vexed by the enchanting vocals and stunning guitar work of Ari May. Balance your feet in readiness to sway to Rahs fierce and sizzling drumming. And brace yourself for Jenna’s dirty bass and brutalizing screams.

I highly recommend you keep your eye on this magical band. With the quality of the musicianship and the uniqueness of their sound, they are going places! Listen to the album and the Ep. Watch the recordings. Do whatever you can to see them live. Their masterful blend of energy and serenity will astonish you and leave you renewed.
