When Desert Bloom PR asked us if we wanted to host the Premiere for Weight Shift and their album, Haled from Aether, I had no idea what I was getting into. All I know is when Desert Bloom is promoting a band or label, it’s a must-hear.
I haven’t been hit this hard by an album this heavy in years. If I told you the albums that this feels like, you’d write me off as full of shit. So, I leave it to you to form your own thoughts.
I will write, with 100% confidence, that Haled from Aether is the result of a band that knows exactly what it wants, how it wants to sound, and how too do it. They label themselves as “Progressive Sludge,” but it’s way beyond that. Weight Shift has written and produced an album that can cross-over into about 5 different genres and feel right at home.
If Weight Shift and Hailed from Aether is the future of Heavy Metal/Sludge/Progressive, then I feel damn good about what tomorrow brings.
