Stoner Doom Reviews

Top 12 Stoner/Doom Albums of October

I listen to Stoner/Doom for a lot of reasons. Sometimes it’s for the shear entertainment of it, other times it’s the metaphysical horror movie groove. But my main reason for listening, time after time, is because attends to tell me the truth about the world.

I think Black Sabbath was the first band to really tell me the truth through music. Sure, the Rolling Stones dealt with some dark, socially relevant material. But Sabbath was next level. All seven of the main albums dealt with a grim realities of modern existence, from drugs, to warfare, to spiritual crisis. Sabbath had it covered.

Rarely have I had a week when I needed the resiliency there comes from me heavy underground diet like I did this past week. Make that month…

Newbie Doomer had surgery on her Achilles tendon in mid-September. That slowed things on this site down to a crawl. but thanks to Doomcakes (Stephanie), we were able to hang in there. I don’t think she will ever understand how grateful we are for what she’s done for Clean and Sober Stoner. If you missed her Dopelord review, you should check it out here.

The surgery was one thing. But Newbie getting blood clots in her lungs was a whole different thing. Oh, she’s fine, after a few days in the ICU. But there for a while…

Needless to say, I only had time to do about 25% of what I intended for October. Halloween is one of the best time of years for Stoner/Doom releases, next to 4/20. This month could’ve easily had 30 albums listed, and that was my intent.

To all the bands that reached out to us over the past few weeks, we really are sorry that we couldn’t get to your music. Thankfully, there’s a whole bunch of Doom Charts contributors out there, so most of you are gonna make it with or without our help. Still, we feel bad.

Below is the exact list I was able to submit to the Doom Charts. Doomcakes has her own to submit as well. No fancy narrative or links this time, but I wanted to at least get the list out there. As for the complete Doom Charts list: as always, that comes out the first Friday of the month, in this case, November 3rd. We should be back up and running, including our YouTube Channel, this weekend.
