Single Premiere: Gorilla Wizard Release New Single/Video, ‘No Replacement for Displacement’

Earlier this year, I wrote about stoner rock bands that use humor in their music and had briefly mentioned Gorilla Wizard. Turns out, they’re still up to their usual antics.

Gorilla Wizard is a big, groovy Sludge Metal band that formed in New York in 2018 and features members of Kaiju Daisenso and Life Burns Low. The band members follow the follies of their lead guitarist and songwriter, Bertrum (the gorilla in Gorilla Wizard), as he enchants audiences with fantastic tales and big riffs from his magical cauldron. Taking groove notes from Fu Manchu, brash intensity from Entombed, and mammoth sonic presence like Bongripper, Gorilla Wizard deliver humongous melodies and serious sonic weight.

Gorilla Wizard’s New Single: ‘No Replacement for Displacement’

From the band: You’re done.  You have to get out.  You have to get away.  It’s time.  It’s time to hit the road and not look back. Thankfully, you’ve got a souped-up, big bloc hot rod turbo-fueled by daemon blood from the fourteenth necrodimension that tears holes in reality every time it shifts gears and leaves blazing, runic glyphs on the melted asphalt as it screams (literally) into the night. When you truly have to leave this place for good, there’s simply…”No Replacement For Displacement!”

“No Replacement for Displacement” is abrasive and groovy in the trademark Gorilla Wizard kind of way. It’s full of fuzz and energy… just like Bertrum. The video is a ton of fun and compliments the music perfectly. Think Mario Kart meets Red Fang.

The latest single from cosmic sludge-sorcerers, Gorilla Wizard, is blazing ahead of their forthcoming EP, White Knuckle/Black Magic. So buckle in, throw it in high gear, and hang on for dear life!
