First blog post

Well.  Here I am, writing a blog.  I guess I should have seen this coming…

Today, I am 53 years old.  I am finishing my Masters in Addiction Studies, and getting ready for my final internship.

I’ve been “in recovery” for 31 years now, and have been “clean and sober” for 24 of those years.  I’ve been a substance abuse counselor for the past 10 years.  And now that I’m on the verge of completing a graduate degree and becoming independently licensed, I am preparing to the leave the profession, and traditional recovery, completely behind.

I guess this blog is about how I got to this point, and how it’s going…
